EUFORGEN carries out projects on research issues of pan-European forest genetic ressources interest with a network of leading experts.
This project uses state-of-the-art technology and knowledge in plant and evolutionary biology, ecology, remote-sensing, genomics, genetics, modelling, and forestry. It aims to upgrade the current European Information System on Forest Genetic Resources (EUFGIS) platform, by adding new types of data and information on the Genetic Conservation Units (GCU), allowing predictions of the fate of European forests in the short, medium, and long term.
EVOLTREE is a European Research Group of 30 partners in 20 European countries, under the umbrella of the European Forest Institute (EFI), which maintains and provides the scientific community with research facilities, resources and training.
GenRes Bridge aims to strengthen conservation and sustainable use of genetic resources by accelerating collaborative efforts and widening capacities in plant, forest and animal domains.
The project ended in December 2021. One of the main outcomes of the project was the Genetic Resources Strategy for Europe that was launched on 30 November 2021 in Brussels. read more
