The evaluation of EUFORGEN’s overall effectiveness provides valuable insights for future decision making. It illustrates how the Programme provides a unique and much needed platform for coordinating forest genetic resource issues throughout Europe, but is jeopardized by matters such as weak linkages between both policy makers and practitioners on the ground, as well as threatened by the unstable constellation of member countries, and the lack of financial resources. This summary of the evaluation report provides detailed insights into EUFORGEN’s strengths and weaknesses along with suggested recommendations for action.
