Webinar #1 - 8 November 2023 (16:30-18.00 CET)

A new webinar series on "New technologies for evolution & genetics" will take place in November 2023. The dates are: 8, 15, 22, and 29 November 2023 all on Wednesday 16:30-18:00 CET.

The first webinar of the series will be presented by Dr. Tom August with the title “New hardware and computer-vision tools are revolutionising biodiversity monitoring”.

Dr. Tom August is a computational ecologist based at the Biological Records Centre at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. He works at the interface of digital innovation, ecological research, and citizen science, exploring in particular how new technologies can break down barriers between researchers and the public, allowing greater public engagement in research. He has interests in data acquisition, decision-making under uncertainty and data science methods, and has led development of the use of artificial intelligence in image analysis for automated biodiversity monitoring
