The third and fourth meeting of the Quercus suber Network were held on 9-12 June 1996 in Sassari, Sardinia, Italy and on 20-22 February 1997 in Almoraima, Spain. At both meetings the workplan was reviewed for each objective of the network. The participants received updates on the activities and progress in the countries. There was a particular emphasis on the design and development of Q. suber field trials. The report includes several presentations on genetic diversity and conservation on Q. suber, given by the participants and observers of the two meetings.
