The fifth meeting of the Temperate Oaks and Beech Network (formerly known as the Social Broadleaves Network) was held on 21-23 June 2003 in Zemplínska Šírava, Slovakia. Members received updates on recent EUFORGEN activities, progress made in countries and other new proposals and opportunities. Four participants delivered presentations on the differences of Fagus sylvatica and Fagus orientalis and on the taxonomical position of white oak species.
